ARCHIVE - 1970s Azure Blue Louis Feraud Jersey Dress with Jacket

£0.00 Sold out
This is a glamorous 1970s three piece outfit by Louis Feraud comprising of a jersey sleeveless dress, a bolero jacket and a fabric tie belt. Wow! There is so much detail going on in this boutique, ready to wear ensemble by one of our favourite designers. This French fashion house is still a little under the vintage radar but Feraud dressed many Parisian and French Riviera glitterati, including Bridget Bardot, during the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The striking electric blue polyamide jersey fabric has some really fabulous design details. We love the piped seams, rows of stylised stitching and the mini pockets on the bodice which is also branded with the Feraud geometric circular Chinese style motif. The skirt element is panelled and gently flares down to around mid-calf length. The short open style jacket has double cuffs, a wide lapel collar and a succession of concentric rectangles stitched on the bottom band. There is a fantastic tie belt made up four long jersey strands on either side of the jacket knotted at the ends. The belt echoes the bottom band of the jacket and ties at the back of the dress. The dress fastens to the rear with the original metal zip fastening and is lined in a heavier jersey fabric to give the dress fabulous weight. This is a very difficult type of fabric to work and an abundance of design features demonstrate the very best quality and construction.

Condition wise, all pieces are in very good to excellent vintage condition. There is a spattering of very small age spots in a couple of places on the dress and the jacket but these do not detract in any way and cannot be noticed at all when worn. The piece has been dry cleaned and afterwards we noticed the hand wash label so think that the small dots will improve with each wash or dry clean. The belt has no issues. This really is a superb set and will best fit a range of sizes up to a UK size 10 / US 6. Our model is a UK 6-8 / US 2-4.

F.A.Q.

Will you set anything aside for me before I come?

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.

We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.

We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.

You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.

Do you have a price range?

Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.

Can I bring anyone with me?

Yes but please do let us know the size of your party in advance.

Where can I get alterations?

We offer some alterations in house. Should you need alterations we cannot provide, we can refer you to one of our tried and trusted tailors.

Do you have an after-care service?

We will advise you on the best way to clean and preserve your vintage pieces and can also recommend trusted local dry cleaners.

Can I cancel my appointment?

You are free to cancel but please do give us as much notice as possible. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will be invoiced a late cancellation fee of £25.
