PRODUCT DETAILS
This sensational early 1990s ivory silk beaded couture bridal gown is by American designer Bob Mackie who was widely extolled for his on and off screen creations for famous divas such as Diana Ross, Cher and Carol Burnett. His look was synonymous with silver screen style decadence and glamour, typically elegant floor sweeping gowns featuring an abundance of sequins, rhinestones and feathers. This spectacular piece is no exception and a version of this gown in gold was worn by Sharon Stone for her role in the Martin Scorsese 1994 film "Casino". The dress is comprised of ivory silk crepe overlain with a fully beaded silk chiffon depicting grapes on a vine in white sequins and delicately embroidered silver toned bugle rocaille beads. The lining is cut into a sweetheart bodice beneath the chiffon, leaving the high crew neck and sleeves sheer. The line of the dress is a simple hourglass silhouette with a floor sweeping skirt that has a curved split at the centre front to reveal a glimpse of the ankles and lower calf. There is a central zip fastening at the reverse. This show stopping piece would make a truly captivating bridal gown or choice for a high profile event and would best suit a US size 4, UK size 8 although labelled a vintage American size 6.
NB: Interestingly, there is a label stitched into the interior of this gown bearing the name Jacqueline Quirk, Miss Vermont 1993, whom we perceive to have been the former owner of this incredible piece.
