This sensational 1990s embroidered silk chiffon couture set is comprised of a dress and clutch bag in matching fabric. The fabric is a vibrant tangerine which has been tie dyed to create a textured effect in a slightly lighter shade. It has then been printed with a silver blue metallic coral design which is further defined by turquoise embroidery in places. The dress is sleeveless with a V neckline both front and reverse and a flowing mid calf length skirt. The bodice features an empire waistline at diagonals with a pretty ruffle trim. There is a an appliqué floral corsage at the centre bust and additional appliqué flowers and bows adorn the shoulders on the reverse of the dress. There is a central zip fastening at the back and it is fully lined in silk jersey in matching tangerine. The bag is a simple rectangular clutch design with a chiffon ruffle embellishment along the edge of the front closing flap, which secures on the underside with popper fastenings. It is beautifully overlain in chiffon fabric to match the dress and lined on deep orange silk. An altogether exquisite ensemble of exceptional couture quality and although the designer is unknown, this was a bespoke design for a well known European socialite and is likely to have been made in France or Italy. It has an opulent and exotic aesthetic and would be the perfect outfit for a summer wedding or a premier race event. Would fit up to a US size 6, UK size 10.
