The complex design is most likely a bespoke creation and inspired by haute couture designs from the same era, notably Valentino Garavani. The skirt portion is composed of a remarkable ten tiers of grey to lilac coloured lace and accordion pleated frills with a peek-a-boo pink lining adding tone and interest. The bodice is a floral embroidered mesh panel with high ruffled collar and trimmed with grey velvet ribbon and decorative buttons. There is a bow tie on the collar whilst the sleeves are gently puffed with grey lace detailing and zip closure on the tapered cuff. The dress fastens at the back with the original concealed zip. The outer fabric is very high quality polyester blend and soft to the touch. The shape of the skirt is enhanced with a stiffened white mesh type petticoat with deep flounce.
