The dress is sleeveless with a round neckline, deep scoop window at the reverse and princess seams to shape the bodice, which showcases some exquisite embellishment. Clusters of rocaille beads, sequins and prong-set crystal rhinestones are skilfully embroidered into an intricate floral design in turquoise, silver and azure on a marine blue chiffon overlay. The skirt by contrast is plain turquoise satin gathered in soft pleats below the waistband with concealed pockets on the side seams below each hip. The jacket is in matching satin and fastens at the front with 6 x loop hole fabric covers buttons below a V neckline. The neckline and the arm cinches additionally have a banded sequined arrangement with glass droplets and dangles of beads made from silver and gold. With a straight cut skirt, there is an additional embellished band along the bottom with a drop crystal fringe finishing the bottom hem to perfection. \u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMade entirely from a silk chiffon fabric that is a double thickness. There is also an internal skirt that is made from an organza that is lined in an acetate and an internal waistband to support the structure of the blouson style. For access, there is a zip in the skirt element and the first layer of the bodice is accessed with a row of stud poppers for the chiffon. This is followed by a second zip running the length of the poppers and the zip of the first dress layer. A very costly dress in its day, it is beautifully made and in wonderful vintage condition; we don't see any issues with it. At some point the dress has been let out along the side seams but it has been done very well and is only noticeable on close inspection. It looks as though there may have been a lining in the jacket as the dress is lined is silk, and the jacket is unlined. You can see the rough workings inside the jacket, especially when compared to the stunning lined interior of the dress. The suit would best fit up to a size 8 UK, or 4 US. The skirt features two stiffened net tulle underskirts to create extra volume and structure. The inside of the dress is lined with a soft and delicate white silk organza, which would feel incredible on the body when worn. Slight adjustments appear to have been made for the comfort of the two owners over time. We note that the dress has been let out slightly at both of the side seams and we believe the exterior zip is a quality replacement - though the inner central zip is certainly the original. These alterations have been done incredibly well and all the original fabric is retained. The darts at the back, which are unseen due to the cross over bodice, have been let out slightly; the hem has also been taken up, but no area of the dress has been cut or altered permanently.
