These earrings are a very substantial drop earring designed around one of the Fashion House's most iconic looks - the black leather chain strap. The chain links are non-articulated and feature a large tear shaped hanging faux pearl dangle. Each earring is fully signed and dated to the reverse on an oval cartouche. This pair date from Season 23 which was the first jewellery collection designed by Victoire de Castellane. She was brought in by then newly appointed creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, and worked on both the costume and fine jewellery collections until 1998. She now heads up Dior fine jewellery collections. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTotal length of earring is 4.5\" (11cms), width of leather weave element is 5\/8\" (1.5cms).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThese earrings are in excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of wear. There are a few tiny nicks and very fine surface scratches to the pearls with minuscule wear to the gold. They look fabulous on without a heavy feeling as the clips are well set. You would have to look very closely to see any fault in these and certainly they can't be seen when worn. De Castellane's early Chanel pieces are particularly sought after and these are for the connoisseur or serious collector of fine costume jewellery.
