1980s Chanel Brown Boucle Jacket with Gold CC Logo Buttons

£1,250.00

This Chanel Boutique jacket dates to circa 1985, from Karl Lagerfeld’s early years at the house. I think it was probably from an early Cruise collection and there's a strong Gabrielle Chanel influence in the wool-rich fabric and jersey-knit detailing. The grey-brown bouclé is flecked with white, while tonal grey-brown knit defines the pockets, cuffs and V-shaped neckline. The white flecks break up the main colour and bring out the texture of the wool.

The striking gold-toned double-C logo buttons fasten the front, with matching buttons at the cuffs and on the patch pockets. Inside, the tonal silk-rich lining features an intarsia design with the Chanel logo, carrying the house identity through to the interior. The composition label lists 51% wool, 19% nylon, 19% alpaca, 9% silk and 2% cashmere. The lining is 95% silk and 5% elastane. The fabric has a tiny amount of stretch.

The jacket is in excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note. There is no size label remaining, so please compare the measurements carefully with a close fitting jacket in a similar style. Our model is a UK 10 – small 12 / US 6 and 5'9". This jacket was a great fit on her.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
