1990s Liberty Geometric Print Cotton Dress with Triangle Buttons

£225.00

Likely dating to the early 1990s, this Liberty print cotton dress has an easy, enduring appeal. Geometric forms in navy, blue, cream and lilac cover the fabric, complemented by blue triangular plastic buttons that echo the angular shapes of the print. The dress fastens down the front and has a rounded neckline and short, wide sleeves. Its relaxed column silhouette can be drawn in at the waist using the integrated drawstring, allowing it to be worn loosely or with a more defined shape. The dress is unlined.

In excellent vintage condition. Labelled 100% cotton and a UK size 12, equivalent to a US 8. Vintage sizing can differ from modern sizing, so please check our measurements below carefully before purchasing. The fabric has no stretch.

Notes on Liberty: Founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty on London’s Regent Street in 1875, Liberty brought together fabrics, decorative objects and craftsmanship from around the world. Its influence extended beyond fashion into interiors and the decorative arts, becoming so closely associated with Art Nouveau that the movement became known as “Stile Liberty” in Italy. Its celebrated Tana Lawn cotton became a signature in the early 1930s, prized for its fine, smooth weave. While florals are perhaps its best-known designs, Liberty’s textile heritage also encompasses a wealth of geometric and abstract patterns, reflecting a longstanding appetite for distinctive colour and print.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
