1920s Silk Cream Floral Embroidered Dress

This elegant and original 1920s embroidered flapper era dress is in immaculate antique condition and of sturdy construction. The pale cream medium weight crepe silk has floral embroidered motifs from the below the line of the yoke collar and a wide, more ornate banding around the bottom hem line and cuffs. This is an early shirtwaister design with an unusual double collar; the second is a deep v-shape with a modesty panel embellished with real mother of pearl buttons from top to bottom. These are purely for decoration as the panel fastens with poppers to one side. The dress is cinched in at the waist with two tie belt fastenings that begin at the front sides with plenty of material to wrap around to tie back at the front. Two dainty front slip pockets complete the demure look.

This dress is without any issues and is in extraordinary condition for its age. It is from the early part of the decade making this dress around 100 years old. Without labels, this appears to be a well made dress maker or homemade piece and has certainly been made with care and attention to detail, both in the making and designing of the dress. It could be worn again by a bride looking for an antique wedding dress or for an event as it is so fresh and timeless. Best suited for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 and sizes smaller.
