1950s Christian Dior Purple Wreath Brooch and Crystal Earrings Set

1950s Christian Dior by Mitchel Maer wreath brooch and clip earrings set featuring gradients of amethyst and rhodolite marquis and oval rhinestones and set in rhodium-plating. The brooch and earrings have a stacked 3 dimensional design. Both earrings and brooch are in truly excellent vintage condition and all stones are prong set. Only the brooch is marked to the reverse with the Christian Dior oval cartouche; however, both items are unmistakably a set. Maer, who designed for the UK market, often designed earrings as part of a parure and these were not always signed in relation to the larger pieces such as the necklaces and brooches.

We've sold this design a number of times over the years including Kramer marked pieces who were licence to sell Christian Dior costume jewellery in the US. Mitchel Maer created many exquisite pieces for the London branch of Christian Dior for a short time between 1952 and 1956. Early Dior examples were approved by Monsieur Dior himself and are some of the most sought-after vintage costume jewellery in the world.
