1970s Couture Crepe Floral Patchwork Blouse
This is the best example of a vintage patchwork blouse we have seen for many years and dates from the early 1970s. We suspect that the crepe fabric is older as vintage fabric from the 1940s was often repurposed by designers. We count four distinct fabric designs in this patchwork assortment; the first and the most striking is the burgundy novelty fish print that features on the sleeves and the unusual cape design collar which is made up of a multicoloured floral design which sits under the fish print lapels. This floral print also makes up the floaty armlet section of the cape and then there are two further floral abstract prints for the torso. The arm sleeves are fluted with a wave cut edge trimmed in satin which echos the hem of the peplum waist. Completing the look is a turquoise blue and white checkerboard tie design at the front to fasten.
This boho blouse has been beautifully made by hand; possibly of French couture construction although there are no labels. In immaculate vintage condition and will fit a range of sizes up to a UK 12 or US 8.
