Frank Usher has been known since the 1950s for designing outstanding evening wear and is still manufacturing today although the heyday for quality and craftsmanship was circa the 50s through to the 1980s.

The bodice is of detailed construction with delicate ruching which forms a waistband round the back. The bust is scalloped and the skirt is a truly spectacular fishtail hem line with a front kick pleat. The dress showcases skilled workmanship in the pattern design. This piece fastens with a zip at the back. There is an inner lining as well as internal boning in the bodice. The skirt itself is not lined but has a double fabric layer.

The label states it is a Vintage UK 10 but this would equate in modern sizing to a UK 6-8.

In really super vintage condition there are no faults of any note. The dress has lost the fabric composition label but feels very much like silk taffeta or a quality man made equivalent unlike today's fabrics. A real statement piece, this cocktail or evening dress is classic and elegant.
