1960s Klevenhands Couture Woven Wool Dress With Matching Belt

This sensational 1960s woven wool dress with matching belt is labelled Klevenhands and although we are uncertain of its origin, it is undoubtedly couture. The dress is long sleeved and mid calf length with a round neckline and a simple tailored silhouette that nips in at the waist. The soft wool overlay is comprised of interwoven yarns in luminous citrus yellow, fuchsia, purple, white and contrasting black and creates a beautiful incidental surface textile. The collar, cuffs and hems are trimmed with wide set fringes in matching fabric set at alternate angles on the neck, and there is a matching belt with circular gold gilt embellishments which fastens at the back. It is fully lined in vibrant lime green silk and there is a concealed zip fastening at the centre reverse. In excellent vintage condition, this unusual and fabulous statement piece would fit up to US size 6, UK size 10.
