1940s Art Deco Pave Patterned Satin Blouse
This fabulous early 1940s satin patterned blouse is versatile for everyday wear and for smarter occasions or even paired with a jacket. It has a pointed Peter Pan style collar, and has etched glass buttons either original or added later (as they are possibly older) which all feature a delicate snowflake design. The blouse is cut from a luxurious, soft satin in an Art Deco, pave brickwork style print. The colours are all shades of blue, green, white, yellow and pink. It has a cinch tie to the rear and gathered sleeves for extra definition at the shoulder. Although the piece has lost its design label, it is of best manufactured quality and almost certainly made in the USA.
This blouse would fit up to a size UK 8 or US 6. It is in lovely antique condition, especially considering its age. We noted that the pink colour on the top shoulder seam has lost some of its vibrancy - this is hardly noticeable. Pieces like this, in eye catching prints and so well preserved, are increasingly hard to find. Such bright colours were also a rarity during the late 1930s and early 40s, with the onset of World War Two, so this blouse really is a unique addition to any wardrobe or collector of this era's fashions.
MEASUREMENTS:
BUST: 34 in. ( 86.36 cm )
WAIST: 31 in. ( 78.74 cm )
SHOULDER: 17 in. ( 43.18 cm )
LENGTH: 20 in. ( 50.8 cm )
