1950s Turquoise Rose Print Two-piece Swimwear

Fantasie cotton rose print two-piece swim suit - the forerunner of the bikini and a really great example from the late 1950s to early 1960s from this quintessential British lingerie brand. This is the earliest example I've ever seen from this label and something of a rarity. It has a fabulous mid-century rose print in turquoise blues, greens and yellow ochre hues. With beautifully shaped cups and a panelled and flared torso, this fastens at the back with the original zip and the front has a double halterneck strap. The high leg bikini briefs are separate to the bodice top and have fully elasticated leg openings and smocked side panels. It great to see they stayed together all this time and of course they can both be worn separately.

It's a small size and best suited for around a UK 8, US 4 or smaller. In brilliant vintage condition for its age - I don't see any issues; the elastic retains all of its stretch and the colours are vibrant.
