1960s Yves Saint Laurent Gold Fish Brooch

1960s Yves Saint Laurent gold-tone stylised fish brooch. Featuring faux coral and turquoise stones and a glass blister pearl that stands proud of the design. The gold plating has a mat satin appearance and is a rich, warm hue. To the reverse is the rectangular YSL cartouche. It measures 2" wide x 2 3/4" long and is in excellent vintage condition. Just the faintest surface scratching to the pearl with no losses.

The French jeweller, Roger Scemama, had a long association with the leading fashion houses of the day throughout the 1950s -1970s and this is without question one of his haute couture designs for the house which are among the best documented. I've been a collector of fine costume jewellery for nearly 25 years and have only seen this piece on one other occasion. A rare and fine brooch, very wearable with a fully functioning c clasp.
