1970s Roland Klein for Marcel Fenez Accordion Pleat Dress

This piece has been sold and is preserved here as part of the Circa Vintage archive. It is no longer available to purchase.

1970s Roland Klein for Marcel Fenez chestnut brown accordion pleat dress. This georgette fabric maxi dress has made good use of an accordion pleat design from the Raglan shoulder sleeves through to the trapeze design bodice and full A-line skirt. The sleeves finish with a Bishop style cuff that is fastened with two fabric covered buttons. It has a high cowl neck and fastens to the rear with the original zip. The dress is fully lined in a burnt orange colour acetate, save for the sleeves which have been left sheer and the bodice lining has been cut trapeze shaped to give a halter neck appearance. The dress retains its original fabric belt and fabric loops. Labelled a vintage UK 14, this piece is better suited to around a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 in modern sizing. Condition is excellent, no issues of any note.

NOTES ON DESIGNER:

Roland Klein designed clothes for Diana, Princess of Wales throughout her time in the public eye, including one of her favourite outfits, frequently seen at polo matches and informal occasions from 1981 to 1987 - a trompe l'oeil jumper decorated with rhinestones.
