1990s Bespoke Silk Chiffon Beaded Halterneck Dress
This 1990s bespoke dress reminds me of Laura Hutton's iconic Halston dress that she wore to the 1975 Academy Awards. In fabulous pastel hued shades of pink and turquoise silk chiffon, this halterneck dress has a sweetheart shaped neckline and is ruched and pleated on the bodice. It is interspersed with a silver lace overlay that is speckled with crystal gems. The bodice is further enhanced with 5 prong-set crystal stars that have been stitched together as a centrepiece from which flows a full length double lace trim. There are several layers to the dress; the silk chiffon overlay, a white silk crepe which is a heavier mid layer and the final bottom layer which is a lycra underskirt for comfort.
Inside has been exceptionally well made and beautifully shaped with modern corsetry panels. To access the dress there is a row of hook and eyes that are very well concealed at the rear. A genuine one of a kind dress; this belonged to a lady who was fabulously wealthy and had all her clothes made for her.
In lovely vintage condition; there is a small thumbprint age mark on the chiffon that is lost in the folds. The dress has also undergone some professional repairs at some point as a few chiffon tears have been resewn and little crystals have been placed to break up the stitching. There are also a few scattered crystals placed over probably very small holes. All of this work has been done very well and it's very difficult to spot any of this when worn. Best fit for around a US 4 or a UK 8 to 10 and would be perfect for a formal summer event.
