1990s Vivienne Westwood Boucher Print T-Shirt

History-obsessed Vivienne Westwood has referenced the past since her early days in fashion. She peppered her Boucher print, first seen at her 1990 Portrait Collection show and inspired by François Boucher’s 18th-century painting entitled Daphnis and Chloe, across everything from T-shirts to dresses and outerwear.

This is a rare and original 1990s Boucher print T-shirt sourced directly from a private men's collection with all pieces dating from 1988 to 1995. It is 100% soft cotton with the reverse side to the print in an ochre brown. The torso narrows as it heads toward the waist and has mismatched hems with slits at each side. The T-Shirt neck and arm openings have moulded ribbed finishing's.

It has been a much loved piece and now has a gently worn look and I don't mean worn out - it is still very wearable. Many would say they prefer their vintage Tees to show some age for an authentic look. The print is vibrant, the shape is holding up well commensurate with age, only one tiny pin head hole to the reverse near bottom hem. Some colour blotches to the reverse caused by washing. The designer's label has fallen out with use but the composition label remains which dates this piece to the 1990s. No size label but I have compared this to Westwood's modern size Tees and this is the same as a Medium. Totally unisex.
