1960s Haute Couture Balenciaga Brown Tweed Suit

This stylish 1960s haute couture brown tweed wool skirt suit by Paris fashion house Balenciaga and is a perfect example of the chic, sculptural line for which founder Cristóbal Balenciaga was extolled. The knee length skirt has pockets at the hip with a zip fastening cleverly concealed inside the left pocket detail. The interior waistband is reinforced with boning and there are hook and eye fastenings positioned above the zip to further draw in and secure the fit. The cropped jacket features a wide lapel and three large lucite buttons to fasten down the centre front. The ¾ length sleeves are folded at the cuff and there are faux pocket flaps on either side of the hip above the hem. Both pieces are fully lined in a soft chocolate brown silk lining and are in excellent vintage condition. An exceptional couture ensemble that can be worn together or as separates, would best suit a US size 4, UK size 8 due to the petite waist measurement.
