1920s Panne Silk Velvet Floral Coat from Daly's Glasgow
This impressive and entirely original vintage 1920s floral panne silk velvet coat is in superb museum worthy, wearable condition. Typical "cocoon" style of the art deco period, it is a loose fit, straight cut coat with deep V single ruffle collar. The sleeves are full length and voluminous and sit comfortably just above the wrist - they are elasticated. Black silk lining with internal tie fastening, externally, there are two large fabric buttons. Will fit a range of sizes from US 6-10/ UK 10-14 up to even US 12/ UK 16 because of the style.
Retailed by James Daly and Son, renowned throughout Scotland since the mid 19th Century as a drapery and then department store. At one time it was housed in am impressive baronial style building before the company moved to Sauchiehall Street in 1894. In 1952 the company was purchased by House of Fraser Group.
