This lavish and flamboyant short-sleeved jacket references the baroque fashion from the Court of Versailles during the early 18th century. Its structured design features a wide notched collar with gold metallic lace trim and internal shoulder padding. The front section has supportive bust cup details, complete with internal underwire. It fastens with six popper closures whilst the six elaborate gold metal and diamante floral buttons to the exterior are for decoration only. The bottom of the jacket features iridescent gold bows to the left and right panels, which finish off the gold ribbon details running vertically on both sides.
The inside of the jacket is lined in a luxuriously soft peach coloured silk, but really, the exterior fabric is the star of the show; an ornate brocade style pattern of green, gold and pink florals, interwoven with gold thread to give the garment a beautiful luminosity. This piece is the perfect statement for an evening look, or styled with jeans for something more casual. No sizing label is present but this will comfortably fit up to a size UK 10, US 6 and even a size larger if you wish to style this open as per the runway. This jacket was a finale piece and can be seen to the right in the runway presentation shot. In exceptional vintage condition - looks barely worn and no issues of any note. Worthy of museum acquisition or the wearer and collector of fine vintage fashion.
