Yves Saint Laurent was one of the twentieth century's most influential European fashion designers. Born in Algeria he moved to Paris to work for designer Christian Dior. In 1966, he launched his own fashion labels, outfitting women in blazers and smoking jackets, tuxedos and long skirts.
"Le smoking" was his legendary smoking suit with other pieces too becoming iconic designs including the reefer jacket (1962), the sheer blouse (1966), and the jumpsuit (1968).
