Without any formal design training, Ralph Lauren launched his brand in 1967 under the name "Polo", choosing it for the sport’s association with an aspirational lifestyle. His wide, colorful designs landed a boutique space in Bloomingdale’s. In 1972, he released the brand’s iconic shirt featuring the polo player logo, cementing his status in the preppy fashion canon. Over the decades, Lauren expanded his empire into home goods, fragrances, and high-end couture, pioneering the concept of lifestyle branding by selling a cinematic version of the American Dream. This collection forms part of Circa’s designer archive, featuring archival vintage and museum-quality fashion pieces from the Ralph Lauren house.
