This original Edwardian linen blouse is an extremely wearable piece of antique clothing dating from around the turn of the last century. The blouse is made entirely by hand and has very fine cut-out work throughout. The shirt is collarless at the front and fastens with its original mother of pearl buttons. There is a little sailor shaped collar to the rear of this piece. The embroidery, which has been sewn in fine cotton and between the cut-out work, has been added after the cut-out work was completed. The blouse is in absolutely extraordinary antique condition. There are no stains, marks or tears to the fabric. It retains its original lustre and is very soft to the touch - there are no broken braids either. The work was clearly done by an exceptionally skilled hand and may have been for best wear, hence the condition. There are less opportunities to own antique clothing such as this timeless piece which can be easily be worn as contemporary daywear with jeans. Most probably made in America; will fit up to UK size 8-10 or US 4-6.
