2006 Roberto Cavalli Runway Green Silk Embossed Velvet Coat Dress

£4,950.00

This incredible emerald green coat-dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli and appeared as the opening look on the Fall 2006 runway paired with a fur stole. Roberto Cavalli’s fabrics are instantly recognisable for their luxurious textures and bold, often animal-inspired prints, which fuse opulence with a sense of hedonistic glamour. True to form, the fabric is beautiful; crafted from a decadent sheer silk chiffon in a rich green hue, it is adorned all-over with large flowers embossed in a silk-mix velvet and detailed with glistening gold paint. The louche, draped silhouette is theatrical, recalling the opulence of 1920s kimonos. The shawl-collar is cut low with a cross-over front that ties with an elegant, large black velvet frog closure. The sleeves are a stand-out feature of this gown. From the elbow down, they are tailored from nude crepe to a voluminous bell-style and detailed with diamond-shaped cut-outs, outlined in green velvet - the overall effect being that of peacock feathers or pleated fans. The cuffs are made from green velvet and close with Cavalli’s signature gold-tone metal stud buttons. This piece is lined with a luxurious pale peach satin, patterned with pastel florals with painted silver metallic outlines. Roberto Cavalli’s signature is dotted between the florals. The wide bottom hem of the lining is crafted from candy-pink velvet - the perfect contrast to the rich green outer that can be seen as the wearer walks.

Made in Italy, this piece is in excellent archival vintage condition with no issues of any note. The composition label states that it is 100% Silk with 83% Viscose, 17% Silk applique and a lining of 100% Viscose. Size Italian 40 which equates to a UK 8 or US 4. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 33" (84cm), Waist 26" (66cm), Hips: 34" (86cm), 5' 7" (170cm) and she's a size UK 6, US 2. True to size there was room to spare.

F.A.Q.

Will you set anything aside for me before I come?

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.

We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.

We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.

You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.

Do you have a price range?

Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.

Can I bring anyone with me?

Yes but please do let us know the size of your party in advance.

Where can I get alterations?
