1950s Ruffle Turquoise Layered Tulle Net Halterneck Dress

£575.00
This original 1950s turquoise and net prom dress is a real show-stopping, fairytale piece. It reminds us of the Disney Princess dress worn by Cinderella at the ball. American made, this has lost its design label with the passage of time.

Construction wise, there are three layers to the skirt; an acetate underskirt, over-layed with a plain net skirt and finally the top layer. This has 11 ruffle trims added in rows which give the dress a very full and sweeping profile. The boned bodice is also in the same coloured ruched fabric, imitating taffeta silk with net trim to the sweetheart neckline. The dress has a very pleasing detachable layered net halter neck that widens over the shoulders to give a little cape like effect. Fastening to the rear with the original concealed centre back zip and hook and eye closure. A long bow decoration completes the romantic look of the dress from the back.

Overall this dress presents very nicely indeed. In good to very good vintage condition for a dress which we are sure has been to one or two grand parties over its exciting life. On very close inspection, we noticed two or three small pin holes here or there on the bodice and a few blemishes on the back near the zip but nothing which would detract from the overall look. The net overskirts are in terrific shape but the acetate under-layer has water-markings or slight staining on the front; these of course are not seen when worn but mentioned for accuracy. The dress has very petite measurements and would best fit a US 0-2 or UK 4-6. The dress is seen worn by a UK 4-6.

F.A.Q.

Will you set anything aside for me before I come?

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.

We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.

We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.

You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.

Do you have a price range?

Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.

Can I bring anyone with me?
