1980s Eavis and Brown Couture Black Beaded Flapper Style Dress

£895.00

This evening dress was designed by Eavis and Brown and is a fine couture example from the 1980s. The label was founded by Caroline Eavis who made couture event wear garments for clients such as Beyonce, Helen Mirren and Halle Berry for over 30 years.

This weighty, high-octane cocktail dress is tailored from sheer black silk chiffon and detailed with the most incredible, elaborate beadwork all over. It offers a 1980s take on the 1920s flapper style dress. The dress is cut in a straight, relaxed style and falls to below-the-knee. It has a rounded neckline adorned with rows of beads and tassels detailed with angular, larger beads. The shoulders are capped and these caps have a decorative scallop hem. Both layers of the elbow length sleeves are embellished with tonal black floral beadwork. Strands of black beads fall from the cap-sleeves down over the arms.

The front of the dress is adorned with black floral beadwork which covers the dress from the chest down to the asymmetric scallop hem. Across the front, at hip height, there is an asymmetric row of tassels formed from large high-shine beads and long strands of black beads. The dress fastens at the back of the neck with an angular black spherical button. There is a keyhole cut-out, surrounded by rows of beads, and then spherical buttons which fasten through fabric loops. This dress is unlined but is barely see-through as a result of the heavy beadwork.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws to the beadwork. It has no size or composition labels and the fabric has no stretch. We believe it would best fit UK sizes 8,10 and even a small 12 with a slimmer hip. This equates to US sizes 4,6,8.
