1991 Christian Lacroix Demi Couture Silk Cocoon Jacket

£875.00

This voluminous pink elongated jacket is a typically vivacious design by the French couturier Christian Lacroix. It dates to the brand's Spring 1991 collection and features the pink “Christian Lacroix Luxe” which was a very high end and expensive ready-to-wear line that was made to near couture standards. Crafted in Italy from pure silk in this eye-catching peachy fuchsia tone, it is tailored to a cocooning silhouette which encircles the body and has a large open-collar with wide lapels which stretch out over the shoulders. The fabric is ruched and gathered just below the shoulders and across the top of the arms, resulting in a bell-sleeve shape to the sleeve. Two slit pockets sit aside the waist, detailed with rows of tonal running stitch which make it appear quilted. A large pink silk-covered button closes this jacket at the centre of the neck and the four hidden snap closures secure the length of it. This jacket is unlined.

In truly excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. The outer fabric is 100% Silk and the lining is 100% Rayon. It is labelled a French size 40, or a UK 12, US 8 and would fit a few sizes either side of this due to the design. The fabric has no stretch.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
