ARCHIVE - 2005 Chanel Cruise Balconette Watercolour Print Dress
Reminiscent of 90's designs this dress is from Chanel’s 2005 Cruise collection. It would be hard to find a more iconic summer mini dress from the brand. Thin, elasticated spaghetti straps hold up a balconette top that is underwired, creating a slight push-up effect. The bust is trimmed with ruffled cotton with Chanel’s signature frayed edge. The vibrantly patterned cloth has a slight stretch. It reimagines the house’s classic gingham in a smudged, watercolour style, with that instantly recognisable double-C insignia dotted across the purple, magenta, mustard and pink print. There is an invisible side zip under the arm.
This dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. This collection is etched in the fashion hall of fame due to Anne Hathaway wearing the now infamous Chanel Jacket in The Devil Wears Prada film. Labelled a French 40 which equates to a UK 10 -12 or US 6 - 8. The fabric composition is cotton, nylon and spandex. There is slight leeway with the measurements below. There was some room in this dress, especially in the bust on our model, she is a UK 6-8 or US 2-4 and 5ft 4in (163cm).
