ARCHIVE - Rare Early Bill Gibb 1970s Renaissance Style Black Pleated Dress

£0.00 Sold out

Incredible vintage Bill Gibb black wool renaissance style dress with pleated skirt and sleeves and structured bodice with applique ribbon. It fastens at the back of the skirt with a zip and has three buttons and loops at the back of the high neck with an open gap in between the two. There is another smaller opening in the centre front of the bodice. In truly excellent vintage condition with no faults and a best fit for size US 2 UK size 6. This is a very early and rare example of the designer’s work made around the time he found fame when another of his designs was awarded the Vogue 1970 Dress of the Year. His early designs and that of fellow designer Gina Fratini tapped into an emerging romantic trend pulling together medieval, Elizabethan and Edwardian styles. Among his famous clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Twiggy, Joan Collins, Bianca Jagger and Angelica Huston.
