2006 Valentino Haute Couture Runway Floral Pleated Beaded Dress

£12,500.00

This exceptional documented haute couture dress was seen on the Fall 2006 runway, Look 24, and was entirely hand sewn in the Valentino atelier in Rome. Designed by Valentino Garavani himself, the Vogue review of the collection described the handiwork as extraordinary.

Tailored from a pleated, iridescent silk cloth in a silvery off-white, it is detailed with intricately detailed coffee brown florals. The dress is tailored to look like an elegant separate top and skirt set. The top has short-sleeves and a V-neckline, formed from two panels of pleated cloth crossing over at the front. It has a peplum waist which falls over the top of the skirt. The skirt falls to around knee length. The dress is detailed with the elaborate beadwork that defined this collection. Bands of it finish the cuffs, encircle the waist and under the bust, as well as finishing the skirt. Sequins and beads in tonal silver, bronze, coffee-brown and palest pink form incredibly detailed florals. The dress is lined with a pale beige satin slip. It fastens with a long tonal zip at the rear and a hook-and-eye clasp. This gown would make a truly memorable dress for a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. The label reads “Valentino Couture” in glittering gold thread on cream silk.

This dress is in superb archival vintage condition with no issues of any kind. Due to it being couture made, it has no size or composition label so please check the below measurements as the fabric does not have any stretch. The client was around a size UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Our model is a UK 6 or US 2 and this fit her well with a little room to spare. The original design on A4 card will be supplied with the dress.

Please contact us to arrange a viewing or more details of this dress as we will not ship overseas.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
