2011 Valentino Haute Couture Navy Dress Suit with Latticework and Belt

£4,800.00

This dress suit was commissioned from Valentino’s Spring 2011 haute couture presentation and walked the runway in a pink variation. Latticework featured throughout the collection, carrying on into Fall 2011 and becoming a signature of co-designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Valentino. This 2-peice ensemble is tailored from smooth navy wool to an elegant shift-style with narrow inch-wide straps. The dress has a panelled construction and is lined with tonal silk in a slightly lighter blue than the outer cloth. It fastens at the back with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp.

The jacket is crafted from the same lightweight navy wool and features a panel of elaborate latticework around the shoulders and across the top of the back, backed by a lightweight beige mesh for a peekaboo effect. The jacket fastens with matte navy buttons through hidden button holes. It has a small curved collar. There is a wide, detachable belt crafted from navy wool atop black leather which closes through a large rectangular buckle. The jacket is lined in coordinating navy silk.

The jacket and dress, entirely handmade and stitched in the Valentino ateliers in Rome, are both in truly excellent vintage condition with no issues and look barely worn. Haute couture clients look after their wardrobes and this has been expertly preserved. Due to being couture made, there are no composition or size labels however, this client is a UK 8-10 or US 4-6.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
