PRODUCT DETAILS
This lovely 1920s silk flapper dress with matching jacket is in extrodinary condition for the era. The pure silk fabric in soft yellow cream is subtly embossed with a delicate dandelion design and is textured with thin flecks of coloured silk thread in crimson and navy blue. The simple shift cut is in keeping with the classic flapper style with no tailoring at the waist. The neckline is a modest V with a rolled seam. Decorative machine embroidered seams are used to create embellishment on the fabric and run horizontally in parallel chevron formation at the centre front from beneath the breast to below the hip. At this point the design changes and decorative vertical pleats, stitched to the knee before opening out in the lower half of the ankle length skirt. There are four of these on either side at the front, and three pleats to each side at the reverse. The matching jacket is loose fitting and comes to just below the waist. Typical of the era, it is collarless and falls over each shoulder, designed to be worn open, with long sleeves and a small front facing bow detail on the left shoulder. This beautiful ensemble would lend itself effortlessly to any occasion. Would fit up to US size 8, UK size 12. N.B The belt loops remain but the belt is missing. A very easy adjustment - can just be removed with scissors if desired.
