The bodice of this 1940s crepe dress has a scrolling crewelwork pattern that centres around two large embroidered satin work flowers. The wide waistband is an interesting inverted V shape to emphasise the waist and the dress has a high square neckline. It fastens to the side with a popper fastening and there is also a rear poppered neck opening for ease of access. The dress has a low waist with a neatly gathered skirt that falls in soft pleats. The sleeves are three quarter length making this a very versatile addition to any wardrobe as this dress is virtually all seasons due to the fabric being mid-weight. There are no makers labels but the dress has been well made. Condition wise the black still retains an intensity of colour and freshness. There are a couple of very small darns lower down near the back hem of the dress. These of course are not seen when worn. Otherwise condition is very good to excellent for something of its age. It is quite a generous size too and will fit up to a UK 12, US 8.
