This spectacular 1950s British couture ball gown in pale pink and platinum brocade is of exceptional quality and with absolutely magnificent construction. The opulent satin fabric is adorned with pale gold roses and has an opulent, fairy-tale aesthetic. The bodice is tailored snugly to draw in at the waist with boning on the interior and fashioned in a series of gathered pleats culminating in a bow detail just below the centre bust. The wide set straps fan out over the shoulders to cap the top of the arms and create a square neckline juxtaposed with the sweeping curves of the gown. The full ankle length skirt is artfully reinforced with stiff net and and starched linen petticoats to create volume. There is a central zip fastening at the back. This piece is in beautiful vintage condition and a would best suit a US size 2-4, UK size 6-8. Although this dress is unlabelled, it came from a collection with a very large number of Worth gowns as the vendor's mother was connected by marriage to a co-owner of the House's British business.
