ARCHIVE: 1970s Christian Dior Pink Polka Dot Halter Neck Dress

£0.00 Sold out
1970s Christian Dior pink and white polka dot maxi dress. This is a rare example of a labelled Christian Dior Patron label which indicated that the dress was a bespoke order which could only be ordered by haute couture clients. It's made in a fabulous quality heavyweight silk / linen type fabric and features a polka dot pattern with two sizes of dots. It has a halter neck design although the large fabric bow is actually sewn onto the strap; it skillfully hides the hook and eye fastenings behind the neck. The dress is empire line and is made up of large A-line skirt panels. Fully lined in a quality acetate, there is a great deal of hand finishing throughout the garment. The zip appears to be original and is centre back fastening.

In very good vintage condition; there is a small amount of underarm halo staining which is not immediately noticable and a pinhead brown mark very close to the side seam on the right hand side around the waist point. The hemline appears to have been taken up in the past and then possibly dropped back down to the original length. This has partly left a faint brown 'tide mark' together with a faint black line. None of these very minor faults are easy to spot and not noticeable at all when worn, only when the dress is in hand. Of note, the dress at the original hem length is for someone taller. An individual under 5'5" may need to take this dress back up again.
