PRODUCT DETAILS
This desirable 1980s Harris tweed jacket with velvet trim is unmistakably Vivienne Westwood, often extolled as the doyenne of British fashion for her controversial, eccentric, punk-inspired designs. The jacket is part of a skirt and hat ensemble from the Time Machine collection (A/W1988-9) and is owned and displayed in several of the principle fashion museums worldwide. It is based on the classic Norfolk jacket, informal unisex country wear popular from the 1870s to the 1920s. The tawny-grey tweed is expertly tailored to accentuate the feminine line of the waist, bust and shoulders, with soft black velvet trim at the collar and cuffs. Oval-shaped buttons emblazoned with the signature orb emblem are featured on the central button stand and on the tweed belt which fastens to the left. The hem and pocket details are curved to follow the line of the navel to flattering effect. Lined throughout in cream silk, this gorgeous piece is in superb vintage condition and worthy of an serious collector or museum yet to acquire this piece. Would best suit a US size 4, UK size 8.
