2012 Documented Roberto Cavalli Ombré Black Red Beaded Mini Dress
This documented vintage dress was part of Roberto Cavalli’s pre-Fall 2012 look book (17/30). Inspired by “the kinetic art of the 1950s and 1960s” the highly detailed dress is tailored from black silk to a cocooning mini-dress silhouette. It is strapless, held up by a corseted, underwired bust that forms a sweetheart neckline. The dress is exquisitely and intricately embellished all-over in the manner the fashion house has become known for; large perspex paillettes in geometric shapes, studs, beads and embroidery fade from black through burgundy to red at the bottom hem, all set against a black background. At the high empire-waistband is adorned with a quilted satin band and finished with a satin bow at the centre front. The dress is lined with black silk. It fastens under the left arm with a hidden tonal zip.
This dress is in excellent archival vintage condition and looks barely worn. It is crafted from 100% Silk with 100% Silk lining. The fabric has no stretch to it and is labelled an Italian size 40, UK 8 or US 4.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
