PRODUCT DETAILS
This bewitching 1930s black crepe bias cut evening gown with net bodice is in beautiful vintage condition and features some exquisite and unusual embellishment. The diagonal cut of the gown creates an elegant line over the curve of the hip and flows into a soft flare towards the floor. There is a diamond shaped insert at the centre front of the bodice and pleated seams at diagonals below the bust to accentuate the figure. The upper part of the bodice is comprised of soft net fabric with a round neck and dainty puffed sleeves. The netting is embellished with appliquéd sections of iridescent metallic lamé which are embroidered with sequins and rocaille beads in metallic grey, black, gold, iridescent and pearlescent tones. They appear to represent angel wings, and are placed on the round collar and shoulders, with a central detail that looks every bit like a bats head with accompanying sequinned wings that follow the line of the collar bone. There is no zip as the dress is designed to slip simply over the head. This extraordinary piece possesses feminine and subtly gothic charm and is one of the most unusual pieces of this era we have ever encountered. Something special for the discerning collector, would fit up to US size 6, UK size 10. Please note we have photographed without a slip to highlight to best effect the neckline and embellishment.
