ARCHIVE - 1940s Floral Crepe Peplum Maxi Dress
A floral maxi dress, done with that distinct 1940s elegance and would work well for both day and evening event wear. The lightweight cloth is an early textured viscose with a subtle speckled finish when looked at up close. It is patterned with bold, maroon and amethyst flowers and lime green leaves which stand out against the bright, sky blue background. The peplum waist cascades in a waterfall style down the front of the dress whilst the wide, ruched cap sleeves and layered sweetheart neckline add interesting detail. The lightweight, full skirt makes this piece a delight to wear in warm weather. A hidden green zip secures the back.
This rare, 80 year old dress is in wonderful vintage condition with no flaws of any note. Although unlabelled this dress is well made and was most likely manufactured in America during the earlier part of the 1940s. A good fit for our model who is a UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
