ARCHIVE - 1950s Silk Floral Dress with Scarf

£0.00 Sold out
1950s floral silk chiffon strapless dress with matching scarf. This delightful silk chiffon dress has a wonderful colour combination of cobalt blue, turquoise and emerald green against an an ivory background. The bodice has the archetypal ruching of the era and a feminine sweetheart neckline with additional draping elements complementing the shape of the bust. The print looks very like hibiscus flowers and the floaty skirt falls freely from a gathered waist line. The dress fastens to the side with the original metal zip. Condition wise this is absolutely perfect and would make a great choice as a wedding guest ensemble. We are delighted that the original and very long matching chiffon fabric scarf has stayed with this dress. It is no longer labelled but it is certainly by a very high end maker and likely made in the US as the zip is American. The dress is fully lined in a quality cream acetate and will fit a UK size 8-10 or US 4-6.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
