1950s Turquoise Box Pleat Floral Print Skirt
This is the most darling original vintage 1950s floral cotton box pleated skirt. In a vivid turquoise blue base colour which is set off with a striking floral pattern that has several size versions combining in various forms to provide a graduated look from the waistband to the hem. The floral sprays are comprised of yellow, pink & violet flowers with green sprigs surrounding them. Towards the hemline these flowers become more distinctive such that we would say they resemble anemones, violets & forget-me-nots. The skirt has a classic circular A-Line shape which lends itself to creating a wonderful full silhouette when worn complimented by the neat box pleats.
Unlabelled and most likely made by a skilled dressmaker, the skirt is in excellent vintage condition with no faults to note. The colours remain vibrant for the most part with very minor age appropriate wash fading though this is not noticeable when worn. The box pleats are crisp and neat. The skirt fastens to the rear with its original zip as well as a hook & eye. We think this will best fit a UK 6, US 2 on account of the small waist. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm) and she's a size UK 4-6, US 0-2. This skirt fit her perfectly.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
