This is an original vintage Japanese kimono, circa 1950s, with a very desirable cherry blossom print entirely hand painted and softened to appear like a watercolour painting. There are two repeating floral designs - one featuring the colours sea foam green and yellow and the other a petal design in more traditional tones of cerise and pink with additional painted branches. The design is painted onto a ecru coloured heavy Japanese woven silk. Additionally there are silver metallic highlights but this paint has worn a little with time. The condition is excellent considering the light coloured silk base. The design presents beautifully and this could easily be a display piece with only very gentle signs of wear and age overall. The silk is strong with a couple of very small tea spots but nothing which detracts and certainly no holes or tears. As with all kimonos, this can be worn by virtually any size as the fit is loose.
