This is a sublime 1970s ensemble from American designer Kay Kipps of New York. The dress and jacket are primarily composed of a cream georgette fabric with a stylish Art Nouveau style border print that appears on the sleeves and the pleated section of the skirt. The georgette has been edged with navy border stitching which gives a pleasing contrast to the more neutral tones of the fabric. The dress itself is a simple column affair with half inch straps and a plain bodice with the skirt section having a raised front parting. The look is very ethereal and floaty. There are two fabric layers of georgette on both the bodice and the skirt but the look is somewhat sheer and you may wish to wear with a slip. The jacket is extremely beautiful and could be worn on its own. It has a draping kimono influenced look with very wide square sleeves. The structure of the piece is supported by rope banding to hold the position at the back as there are no fastenings on the jacket. It ties at the front where the bodice meets the waistband of the skirt. Overall the piece is in very good vintage condition with gentle signs of wear and age but no faults of any note. Will fit a range of sizes up to UK 12, US size 8.
