1970s Marisa Tangerine and Brown Chiffon Skirt Suit with Scarf
This dramatic and ethereal skirt suit was designed by London label Kitty Copeland for their Marisa line during the 1970s. Crafted in sheer chiffon, the fabric is patterned with softly blurred, painterly stripes that reveal geometric forms up close, rendered in warm tangerine and brown tones. The blouse is light as a feather, with a wide, floating cut through the body, a generous neckline with tie detail, and theatrical bell sleeves finished with elasticated cuffs. The coordinating skirt is high waisted and midi length, softly pleated throughout to enhance the chiffon’s fluidity, and fastens at the back with two hook-and-eyes and a concealed zip. Sheer and unlined, the set is completed by its original matching scarf, which can also be worn as a belt, in the same chiffon cloth.
This ensemble is in excellent vintage condition and you would never know it was over half a century old. Very well made, it is crafted from 100% Polyester and labelled a size UK 14 though vintage sizes vary hugely so please check the below measurements carefully as it runs smaller. The fabric has no stretch and whilst the top will fit a good range of sizes, the skirt is only suitable for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 on account of the waist measurement.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
