ARCHIVE - 1990s Stanley Hagler Faux Coral Earring and Necklace Set

£0.00 Sold out
A vintage masterpiece Stanley Hagler necklace with matching earrings and most likely designed in the 1990s by Ian St. Gielar who worked for the brand for many years as a master craftsman before taking over the business. Its wonderfully oversized centre pendant is complex in design and heavily detailed, with numerous resin flower shaped designs and droplet beads manufactured by Swarovski which hang beautifully when worn. Off this centre pendant are two smaller pendants, each with gold scrollwork and floral motifs, all formed using tiny coral-esque beads on brass wire with gold finished filigree metalwork. The necklace fastens with a smaller design of beads and flowers strung onto a gold branch of leaves mounted on an antique gold color filigree square plate. St. Gielar produced some of the most lavish designs of all Hagler jewellery and this set is an exceptional undertaking; truly one for the collector or admirer of the best costume jewellery.

The back has an oval signature plaque inscribed Stanley Hagler and N.Y.C dating this piece from 1996, after Hagler's death, until 2007 when St. Gielar passed. The matching pair of coral bead floral earrings, also inscribed, are sold together with this listing. All items are in excellent condition and barely worn with no issues.

Notes on Designer:

Stanley Hagler was born in Denver, Colorado in 1923 and whilst working as Miriam Haskell’s business advisor in the late 1940s, designed a bracelet for Wallace Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor who had a passion for costume jewellery with exquisitely elaborate and bold designs. By 1953, the Stanley Hagler Jewelry Co. was founded in New York City’s Greenwich Village and the collections were retailed in the finest department stores. By the early 1980s, the business moved to Florida. His work is comparable in quality to Miriam Haskell whose designs he often emulated and of the other 'Haskell look' designers such as Eugene, DeMario, and Robert.

Will you set anything aside for me before I come?

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.

We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.

We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.

You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.

Do you have a price range?

Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.
