1980s Andre Laug Multi-Coloured Sequinned Asymmetric Maxi Dress
This 1980s Italian haute couture / alta moda design from Andre Laug appears to be the runway worn dress as it features some additional sewn-in tabs that indicate a collection and design number. The entirely sequined gown is unusual and we would described the tones as an artist's colour palette in that each sequin is printed in orange, yellow, green blue, black and white. The sequins slightly overlay each other like fish scales. From a distance, the sequins collude to give an almost impressionistic or pointillism look and it reminds us of the work of Georges Seurat. It has an asymmetrical neckline and the bodice has been darted with ruching the opposite side to the shoulder strap. It is a full-length sheath style that fastens to the rear with the original centre back zip and a hook and eye.
It's an old runway size so best fit for a present-day UK 10 or US 6. It is backed onto an Eau de Nil silk satin and the dress is fully lined in quality acetate. It's in excellent vintage condition. There is just the tiniest amount of sequin loss very close to one side seam. If desired, there is a multitude of sequins in the hem that could be used as replacements however it is virtually unnoticeable. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in. (180cm), this dress was a great fit on her.

We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.
We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.
You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.
Do you have a price range?
Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.
