ARCHIVE: 1980s Black Chanel Wool Skirt Suit

This two piece skirt suit set by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel is cut in a chic silhouette and is from the fall 1984 ready to wear collection. The jacket has a rounded edge collar and sloped seam detail to each shoulder, as well as light padding on either side to create that classic 80s structured feel. It fastens down the front with five black buttons concealed by a placket, and is finished with classic gold interlocking 'C' cartouche buttons at the collar, on both sides of the front opening, and on each pocket. The cuffs have a banded detail and are once again finished with the same gold Chanel button detail. The jacket is lined with soft black silk, and its exterior, like the skirt, is made up of a very fine wool fabric. The pencil skirt has a fitted waistband, crossover seam details and two functional front pockets. It has a rear zip with hook and eye closure at the top, as well as two vertical front seams - the left of which opens to a split up to around mid thigh, for added freedom of moment. This set, with its craftsmanship and classic approach to tailoring, would make an excellent addition to any Chanel collector's, or vintage enthusiast's, wardrobe.

The set is in immaculate vintage condition with no faults or signs of wear and tear. Labelled a French 40, due to the nature of the small waistband on the skirt we feel it would best fit a UK 8 - small 10, or 4 US to a small size 6 US although the jacket would fit up to a UK 12 or US 8.

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website. We have an extensive offline collection. It is helpful if you can let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget in advance of your appointment.
Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear. You may also wish to bring favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying-on, or gold and silver. We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look. Many of which are also for sale.
Do you have a price range at the showroom?

Many of our lower priced pieces, under £250, are not available to buy online. Dresses usually start at £150 and go up to £30,000 for the very best archival couture. Our bridalwear price points range from £1,000 to £20,000.
Can I bring anyone with me to my appointment?

Yes but please do let us know the size of your party in advance.
Where can I have my circa garment altered?

We offer some alterations in house. Should you need alterations we cannot provide, we can refer you to one of our tried and trusted tailors.
Does Circa have an after-care service?

We will advise you on the best way to clean and preserve your vintage purchases and can also recommend trusted local dry cleaners.
Can I cancel my appointment?

You are free to cancel but please do give us as much notice as possible.

We offer free, secure, off-street parking but it is a tight squeeze – so do let us know in advance if you will be needing this and we can make sure that there is space available.
