1990s Christian Lacroix Black Pink Striped Wide Leg Trousers
These Christian Lacroix trousers are from the couturiers Cruise 1997 collection and carry the house’s distinctive fuchsia-pink ready-to-wear label. Tailored from lightweight viscose crepe, they are patterned with painterly stripes in vivid fuchsia pink and black. They have a high-waisted cut and fall into wide, fluid legs, with pockets at the hips lending the design a more relaxed feel. The trousers are unlined and fasten at the back with a fabric-covered button and concealed black zip.
The trousers are in excellent vintage condition with no issues. Made in France from 100% viscose, they are labelled a French size 36, equivalent to approximately a UK 8 or US 4. Please refer to the sizing information below to ensure the best fit.
Notes on Designer:
Christian Lacroix established his eponymous Paris couture house in 1987, following a celebrated period designing haute couture for Jean Patou. His arrival made an immediate impact, with his exuberant use of colour, pattern, historical references and elaborate decoration offering a striking alternative to the more restrained fashion of the period. Lacroix ready-to-wear followed in 1988, translating the energy of his couture into more wearable pieces. Although the original fashion house ceased producing couture in 2009, Lacroix’s influence remains considerable. His fearless approach to colour, theatrical proportion and historical reference helped define the exuberance of late twentieth-century fashion, and his work is now represented in major museum collections and increasingly sought after by collectors. Circa Vintage is proud to hold a fine collection of Christian Lacroix pieces spanning different periods of his career.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
